Blackstone Recruitment are working with an NHS Trust in Northampton who are looking to recruit a Paediatric Physiotherapist to work within their Children's Physiotherapy service.

Start date - As soon as possible

Hours - Full-time

Rate - £25.58 per hour

Job Summary:

To provide specialist physiotherapy, to continue our high standard of physiotherapy input to the children of West Northamptonshire.

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • To be able to work independently without direct supervision.
  • To ensure a high standard of clinical care, using a variety of assessment techniques and to formulate individual treatment plans.
  • To provide physiotherapy to children, often with a complex presentation using specialist skills to deliver and monitor treatment.
  • To assess, liaise, monitor and request specialist equipment.
  • To assess the child’s/parents/carers understanding of assessment and treatment proposals, gaining valid informed consent. To have the knowledge to work within a legal framework with children who lack the capacity to consent to treatment.
  • To be responsible for the education of parents/carers/school staff and junior members of the physiotherapy team in treatment interventions to ensure safe and effective practice.
  • To formulate, evaluate and progress treatment programmes for the children, setting realistic goals, jointly agreed with all parties.  
  • To evaluate the child’s progress, reassess and alter treatment as required.
  • To monitor treatment using sound measurement and validated outcomes.
  • To continuously evaluate own practice ensuring it is up-to-date, evidence based, and compliant with professional clinical guidelines.
  • To manage clinical risk within own patient case load.
  • To maintain comprehensive and accurate patient records in order to comply with legal and departmental requirements.
  • To develop and maintain good working relationships with members of the multidisciplinary team, both in health and social care.
  • To contribute to relevant multidisciplinary team meetings and case conferences.
  • To provide accurate, detailed reports, including for EHCPs, when requested.
  • To promote and support patients’ rights by promoting individual choice, respecting their beliefs and ensuring privacy and dignity at all times
  • To make known to the team lead, any deficiency in working conditions, equipment and procedures, which may constitute a hazard to patients or staff and ensure adequate precautions, are instituted.
  • To complete mandatory training in a timely manner.
  • To participate in the weekend and Bank holiday daytime on call rota

Professional Responsibilities:

  • To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your own work, including the management of patients in your care.
  • To comply with service, trust, HCPC and CSP (Chartered Society of Physiotherapy) policies, procedures, guidelines and standards.
