Salary: £25,320 - £34,885.60 (M1-M6) actual annual salary

Hours: 32 hours a week, Term Time Only (4 days per week, Monday-Thursday)

The main purpose of the role:

We're looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Maths Teacher to join our team and support young people aged 11–16 with social and emotional difficulties, anxiety disorders, and mental health needs. In this role, you’ll deliver engaging and high-quality Maths lessons up to GCSE level, helping students gain the academic and life skills they need for their next steps, whether that’s further education, training, or employment. Our students can display challenging behaviours, so we’re looking for someone patient, resilient, and ready to build strong, supportive relationships.

You’ll collaborate closely with a multi-disciplinary team to create personalised learning plans, set meaningful goals, and contribute to important review of Statements and EHC plans, PEP, and LAC reviews. Alongside teaching, you'll help shape and develop our curriculum, keeping it fresh, relevant, and tailored to each student's needs.

Successful candidate qualities:

  • Essential: PGCE, QTS, Cert Ed or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training.
  • To be able to teach Entry level 2 & 3, and GCSEs in Maths
  • Desirable: Experience of working in a college environment, ideally in specialist education.
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Good teaching and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Effective skills in planning, preparation, recording and reviewing students’ progress.
  • Good IT skills and understand of how IT can be used to support learning.
  • Ability to remain calm and reflective when working in a challenging environment.
  • Proven ability to work on own initiative, be well organised, prioritise effectively and achieve results against deadlines.
  • Ability to engage students in positive enabling relationships.
