Hourly Rate: £23 to £25.63 per hour
Working hours: Monday to Friday 37.5 hours a week

Contract Length: 3 months minimum
Job Summary:
- To participate in the provision of a comprehensive dispensary based service with particular emphasis on the safe and efficient dispensing of medicines to patients.
- To deliver quality care to patients at ward level through the implementation of an efficient medicines management system, including the assessment of patients’ own drugs, counselling patients and parents about medicines and coordinating the supply of discharge medicines.
In conjunction with the ward pharmacists, maintain the One Stop Dispensing scheme for the designated wards (and self-administration as appropriate) in accordance with Trust policies.
Initiate supply of medicines against clinically screened prescriptions at the request of ward pharmacists.
Maintain stock control of medicines to ensure availability of medicines by good record keeping and regular checks of patients’ medicines lockers.
To accurately dispense NHS and private outpatient, in-patient and discharge prescriptions in accordance with the standard operating procedures.
To accurately dispense ‘unlicensed medicines’, extemporaneous preparations and controlled drugs as required.
Essential Candidate Criteria:
- BTEC/NVQ 3 in Pharmaceutical Service
- Registered as a practicing pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician preferred but no essential.
- Hospital experience including dispensary experience.
