Working hours: Monday-Friday 37.5 hours a week (will consider part time)

Contract Length: 3 months minimum

Job Summary:

1. To support and develop the pharmacy critical care service in the Trust working alongside the Pharmacy Team Manager.

2. To develop and maintain (and lead) the web based hospital formulary, net-Formulary in conjunction with the Lead Pharmacist for Medicines information

3. To provide training in critical care skills within the critical care team (Attend UKCPA training to support learning).

4. To act as a pre-registration pharmacist tutor/ diploma mentor when requested by the E&T Lead.

5. To act as a practice supervisor to pre-registration pharmacists and band 6 pharmacists when necessary.

6. To co-ordinate and contribute to writing/checking pharmacy information bulletins.

7. To be responsible for providing a highly specialist service to a critical care by ensuring appropriate mechanisms are in place to promote high quality drug use, effective risk management, patient safety/ governance initiatives and adherence to trust policies and guidelines. Be responsible for advising in this area, managing drug budget and for leading, developing the clinical pharmacy service provided to this area.

8. Provide a regular ward pharmacy commitment and provide a safe, effective and efficient clinical pharmacy service and contribute to the development of clinical pharmacy services including training and implementation of relevant policies and risk management initiatives.

9. Provide support as requested to the clinical pharmacy services, dispensary, production and medicines management programme.

10. Regularly lead on / initiates / contributes to relevant practice research or audit projects within the Pharmacy and to publish the results of such work, as appropriate.

Essential Candidate Criteria:

  • Masters Degree in Pharmacy
  • GPhC Registered as a Pharmacist
  • Right to work in the UK
  • NHS experience required
