Blackstone Recruitment are working with a provider of education, care and support services for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities who are recruiting for a Head of School for their school in Hertfordshire.

Location: Hertfordshire
Hours: 40 hours per week.
Salary: £66,628 - £73,509 per annum
Essential Criteria: Relevant Leadership/Head Teacher qualification (such as NPQH) or a willingness to gain such a qualification.
The role:
They’re currently looking to recruit a Head of School to join their team.
Experience:
Successful candidate is likely to demonstrate the following:
- Establish and sustain the school’s ethos and strategic direction together with the principal and governing board and through consultation with the school community.
- Establish and oversee systems, processes and policies so the school can operate effectively.
- Identify problems and barriers to school effectiveness, and develop strategies for school improvement that are realistic, timely and suited to the school’s context.
- Make sure these school improvement strategies are effectively implemented.
- Monitor progress towards achieving the school’s aims and objectives.
- Allocate financial resources appropriately, efficiently and effectively.
- Undertake Safeguarding duties supported by the principal which will entail reporting and following up incidents in a timely manner and where appropriate liaising with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Work in close partnership with the principal in actively and demonstrably promoting enrichment, entitlement and achievement through building and implementing agreed school policies and practices.
Skills & Qualifications: -
- Experienced Head teacher with a track record of success in SEND environments
- Qualified Teacher Status with further professional qualification in a relevant area. Candidates with Head Teacher qualification (such as NPQH)
- Experience of working as a senior leader within an ASD environment
- A clear understanding of Ofsted frameworks and Safeguarding legislation in relation to independent schools.
- Quality assurance experience (such as lesson observations and performance management)
- Team management experience.
- Superb communication and stakeholder management skills.
