Hourly Rate: £33 to £35 per hour

Working hours: Monday to Friday 37.5 hours a week (7am to 3pm. Open to change of shift patterns once trained)

Payment Method: Umbrella or PAYE

Contract Type: Locum

Contract Length: Until January 2025 (at minimum)

Job Summary:

  • To provide leadership to your team to ensure the effective provision of the service they provide and to champion change in the organisation.
  • You will address any issues and concerns that may inhibit your staff from achieving both their personal and organisational goals.
  • Lead the operational Pharmacy service and support the development of a Pharmacy departmental strategy in accordance with service agreements and key performance indicators to support and collaborative working partner objectives.
  • Line manages the Pharmacy Technician and Support Worker team providing leadership on recruitment, sickness, disciplinary, appraisal and career development.
  • Responsible for long term planning and development of the operational pharmacy service linked to stakeholders expected growth to ensure the service can meet external demands.
  • Provide updates and ensure that service delivery is maintained.
  • Monitor and analyse operational pharmacy workload and performance of service and identifying ways to ensure service resilience.
  • Responsible for ensuring the pharmacy service adheres to the principles of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) Professional Standards for Hospital Pharmacy Services.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining Trust and departmental policies and procedures related to the operational pharmacy service across the Trust and its service users.
  • Responsible for ensuring the training, evaluation, and development as well as robust risk management reviews are carried out for all roles.
  • Responsible for maintaining and producing performance metrics for the operational pharmacy service and presenting information to external stake holders.
  • Autonomously dealing with complaints, errors, and incidents, ensuring they are reported and investigated, and reports or advice is provided as well as appropriate actions are taken promptly to prevent recurrence.

Essential Candidate Criteria:

  • BTEC/NVQ 3 in Pharmaceutical Service or Mpharm in Pharmacy 
  • Registered as a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience with specialist training/experience in medicines management or related subject
  • Management training /experience to intermediate level
  • Recognised accuracy checking qualification/accreditation (if pharmacy technician)
  • Leadership training or equivalent experience
  • Significant post qualification experience in a hospital, ambulance Trust or pharmaceutical distribution setting including a management role
  • Audit and service review
  • Budget management
  • Experience of working in a multiprofessional environment and working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
